things that annoy you about the film
I read the books recently and then watched the films.  I annoyed a few people by saying that didnt happen in the book and that's at the wrong time...  but the thing that annoyed me the most was the portrayal of Faramir.  the films made him seem like Boromir and highly interested in the ring. the book showed him to be noble and like kings of old - i'd compare him to Aragorn in some aspects.  the film did not do this character justice.

Elijah Wood as Frodo.
Pippin being the only Hobbit with a Scottish accent.
Faramir's character change.
Lack of a Gimli vs Eomer feud.
No Death of Sauruman (theatrical release).
Hated the cheesy Gothmog character.
Arwen. Some of Liv's scenes still make me cringe.
I felt that the Moria scenes were rushed and didn't do the book justice.
The 15 endings.
Gollum's death. He just sinks into the lava instead of burning up.

Beleg

Where do you get the "the book clearly states that no weapon can harm Gandalf" statement? I have read the LoTR many times and think you may be mistaken.

I understand some people's frustrations with the movie versions of books. But the problem with Faramir is mentions in either one of the commentaries or the special features on the extended edition. It was because it really didn't make sense for them to build up the power of the ring and then have this one character who was not affected by it. Yes it is frustrating as a fan of the book to see all these changes but for the sake of the viewer who has not read the book the change was a good thing.

Gandalf hitting Denethor with his staff before the seige, the Sam Frodo, Gollum relationship-Sam leaving Frodo before Shelob-the whole point of Gollum taking them to Shelob was because there was 2 of them so he needed her help, if Frodo was alone Gollum would have just attemped to take the ring without Shelob, BUT most of all from the extended ROTK was Gandalfs defeat my the Witch King, this would never have happened as the book clearly states that no weapon can harm Gandalf and that the only power able to defeat him is Sauron so this scene sold Gandalf short and made him look pathetic, also changing the setting from the drama in the book when the great gate was broken was a mistake

I agree with Evenstar. Not having the "Scouring of the Shire" included in the film was a travesty

oh and another thing that p***ed me off was the relationship between sam and frodo and gollum. sam and frodo in the book where BOTH suspicious of gollum and stuck together more over that than the book says! i think i would have liked to see sarumen at the end when he pretty much looks destroyed and the whole shire homecoming at the end of the book could've been done!

What annoys me the most is that the films were BORING !
ho-hum, whenever i watch the DVDs i end up using 'fast forward' too frequently.

I'm not too worried about all the *actions* that were left out of the movies, although i love Tolkien's *language* and would certainly have included it in the script had i written it. For example, Eowyn's killing of the Ringwraith, or the powerful scene when the gates of The White City are breached. It is not impossibly to include such language: compare to the recent 'Beowulf' film for instance, which included nicely authentic translations of the original text (possibly taken direclty from Seamus Heaney's version?).

The movies were far too long, and this does not bode well for 'The Hobbit'.

amazing...it's just a movie! people need to relax and enjoy these adaptations for what they are: entertainment. sure, there's a lot unknown (considering casting hasn't been announced), but nothing i've heard or seen has been so utterly ill-conceived to warrant this pessimism...it's just entertainment.

Luthien, I imagine you're not looking forward to The Hobbit movie then?

Elladan, I have a friend who always fast-forwards through the scenes with Frodo and Sam. 8)) And I agree that the Wargs look nothing like wolves - hyenas is more apt for sure.

OH! I hated the Wargs too. They need to be more wolf like. They reminded me more of Hyenas then wolves.

Whenever I watch TTT i always fast forward through the parts where Merry and Pippin are in Fangorn. I think it is sooooo boring.

I pretty much accepted the fact that PJ had to make some adjustments to the books to make them more "movie-like" but what I can't forgive is lines like "You shall be... the Fellowship...of the Ring", and Sam's cornball speech at the end of TTT. I fast-forward through those. There are other awful corny lines too but I can't think of them at the moment.

The main thing I didn't like about the movie was that they left out Tom Bombadil and they're travels through the forest. However, if they included that the movie would've probably been about 25 minutes longer. Other than that I thiink Jackson did a great job.

i'm sorry, but the argument that the films would be way too long with all of the content from the books is a load of bs... there were just as many things added in the movies as omitted from them. also, if the battles had all just been fifteen minutes shorter, everything could've been fitted in to a time frame that may have been a half an hour longer than the original movies. so for all of you that say it couldn't have been done, listen to me, it could've

Son of Craig, Arwen was in Rivendell. Frodo was alone on the far side of the Ford of Bruinen (atop Asfaloth). Glorfindel was the elf who found the travelers on the road to Rivendell and chased the Nine's horses into the river.
