another Del Toro interview - but a cool one!

if you are not sick of reading the non-revelatory string of Del Toro interviews, here is yet another --- but for some reason in this one he hit me as a rather cool guy.... and I would someday love to visit his home.

Just read the TORn interview with GDT about Hellboy II. Hobbit was mentioned briefly, but what caught my eye was the reference to the new "Jackson 5" (Jackson, del Toro, Boyens, Walsh and Weta master Richard Taylor). I wonder if it will catch on? :-)

"I was never into heroic fantasy. At all. I don't like little guys and dragons, hairy feet, hobbits -- I've never been into that at all. I don't like sword and sorcery, I hate all that stuff."

Anyway, this fall they will start the pre-production stage; then we should be able to know something about the plot of F1, at least.

Well it is refreshing Angelica to see Del Toro admit that his news is really no news and its that way by purpose and design. He seems to be a pretty straight shooter - at least by the film industry standards.

GDT has posted on TORn re. the spate of non-news interviews:

"GDT: Patience on real Hobbit News
July 5th, 2008 by Calisuri

Guillermo Del Toro has taken a break from his super busy schedule promoting ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army‘ (in Theaters July 11th) to post on TheOneRing.net forum with a message of patience on Hobbit News:

With rare exceptions, expect a lot of “no news” news to pop up everywhere “about the Hobbit”.

Some may try and be controversial with headings, some may try to spin old news into looking a little more recent. Some may even create a “scoop” feeling. But the bottom line is simple: There are no more news to report.

That said, being on the HBII junket tour, many a question will have to do with “The Hobbit” and the answer that will be given will be pallid variations on themes already familiar to TORN readers.

Please be patient. In just a few weeks, progress will actually occur and we will have some tidbits to gear up-

Yours Truly

GDT "

Yup... great interview. He sounds like me (but with money and talent) I hope his wife is as understanding as mine

I am relieved to see that he understands that the appearance of The Hobbit can't be as bombastic as some of his previous works. This is going to be fun to watch unfirl, heh.
